Funeral services for Iona Kietzer, 82, Truman, MN will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 10:30 am at St. John's Lutheran Church-Willow Creek, rural Vernon Center, MN. Iona died on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, MN. Interment will be held at St. John's Lutheran-North Willow Creek Cemetery, rural Vernon Center. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 17, 2015 from 4-7:00 pm at Zaharia Family Funeral & Cremation Service of Truman and one hour before the services in the church Tuesday. Iona Martha Greiner was born on October 12, 1932 in rural Antrim Township, MN to Walter and Hattie (Becker) Greiner. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church-Antrim Township. Iona attended parochial school at Antrim Lutheran School and Graduated from Truman High School in 1950. She worked at the People's State Bank in Truman from 1951-1955. On June 6, 1953 Iona was united in marriage to Hartwin Henry Kietzer at St. John's Lutheran Church-Antrim Township. They lived and farmed in the Willow Creek area from 1955-1967. In 1967 they moved to their present farm in rural Truman. Iona worked along side of her husband for over 50 years farming. She loved vegetable gardening and taking care of her flowers. Iona enjoyed cooking meals for her family and friends. If you were fortunate enough to enjoy a meal at her house then you were lucky enough to have your name put in the "red book". She enjoyed going to Canada fishing for over 20 years and enjoyed taking the grandchildren along when they were old enough. Iona loved to go to Arizona in the winter and visit with friends and family. Her quick wit and beautiful smile will be truly missed. Iona is survived by her husband of 62 years, Hartwin Kietzer, Truman, MN; three daughters, Susan Hunstad, St. James, MN, Sandra Kettner (Neil), Lewisville, MN, Mary Backstrom (Gregg), Maple Grove, MN; grandchildren, Melissa Etter, Preston Roloff, Tyler Hunstad, Tyler Kettner, Levi Kettner, Stacy Backstrom, Megan Backstrom; 8 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Lillian Kuhlman, Lewisville, MN, Irene Engerud (Cliff), Rochester; sister-in-law, Laura Greiner, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Delphin and Doris Kietzer, sister-in-law, Betty Kietzer; many nieces and nephews.
