Agnes P. Yoder
1923 - 2018

A graveside service for Agnes P. Yoder, 94, of Denver, Colo., will be held Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. at the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 2 -4 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona.

Agnes Pauline Yoder was born May 3, 1923, in Kalona, Iowa, and passed from this life on Jan. 2, 2018, at Cherry Creek Nursing Center. Agnes was born and raised by Daniel and Elsie Yoder. After graduation from Kalona High School, she graduated as a nurse in 1945 in the Government Cadet Nursing Program. She moved to Denver in 1947 and served as a nurse until retirement. She left Denver and spent a four-year tour in Sitka, Alaska, as a nurse at the government hospital, serving the native population.

She returned to Denver where she was a long-time active member of Central Christian Church. She loved the mountains and Denver. The Central Christian Church family was her home and "Miss Aggie," as she was known, was involved in unnumerable ways for almost 70 years. For instance, Aggie presided over the kitchen as the primary cook for church fellowship meals, was a founding member of the Brown Bag Quilters quilting for more than 30 years, and served as the church's historian for at least 20 more years. Two years ago, the church proclaimed Miss Aggie Day where a reception was held in her honor, presenting her with a special engraved spatula in recognition of her years of faithful service. Beloved by all, Miss Aggie is considered to be one of the great saints and pillars of the Central Christian Church in Denver.

Survivors include her brother: Ralph (Trudy) Yoder; and three sisters-in-law: Clara Yoder, Joyce Yoder and Daveta Yoder.
