Charles E. Parsons, 71, of Woodhull Road, affectionately known as "Chuck", passed away at his residence on Tuesday, May 17, 2011, while surrounded by the loving care of his family. He was born in Rome on March 6, 1940, a son of Howard F. and Eros Brayton Parsons. Chuck grew up in Oneida, where he graduated from high school with the Class of 1958, and after that he was employed in road construction. In December, 1960, he entered the US Army, serving his country while stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas, and in Germany. He was honorably discharged in December, 1962, transferring to the US Army Reserves, serving until 1966. For thirty years, Mr. Parsons was employed for United Parcel Service, first as a tractor trailer driver and then as a local parcel deliveryman. Chuck was the life of the party; he had the ability to lighten where ever he was with his ever present smile and ready wit. He simply loved life and was an avid motorcyclist, enjoyed downhill skiing and dancing. He enjoyed playing the role as entertainer at performing Karaoke. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Monday Night and Thursday Morning Golf Leagues at Woodgate Pines Golf Course. Chuck greatly loved his children and family. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Nicholas Alger, Jamesville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brett M. and Sherry Parsons, Boonville, and Daryl J. and Melissa Parsons, Syracuse; two grandchildren, Nicholas Pfendler and Alexis Parsons; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald Parsons and Mary, Oneida, and Howard Parsons and Mary, Westernville; and one sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Eric Kaiding, Boonville. His funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 AM at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler St., Boonville, where Rev. Fr. Sean Patrick O'Brien will officiate. Interment will follow in Westernville Cemetery. His family will be present at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-8 PM for the visitation.
