MRS. M. A. CORDICK OF ARRAN PASSES
TARA, Aug. 15 - A large circle of friends and neighbors will learn with the deepest regret of the death late Thursday afternoon of Mrs. Margaret Anne Cordick of Arran Township. Deceased was one of the best known residents of her community and was very highly esteemed. While health permitted she always took an active interest in various activities and was willing at any time to assist her church or community.
Deceased had been in failing health for some years and since a stroke two years ago, she had been bedfast. She passed away in her 89th year.
The late Mrs. Cordick was a daughter of the late Capt. Alfred Hackett and Mrs. Hackett. She was born in Port Elgin in March, 1959, and lived there until her marriage in 1880 to Dr. Frank Cordick, who carried on his practice as a veterinary surgeon and at the same time farmed on the 9th concession of Arran. As a bride she went to the home where she passed away. She always resided there, except for the occasional winter which she spent with other members of her family.
Her husband predeceased her in 1921. She was the last of a family of six children. Surviving to mourn her death besides a wide circle of friends are two daughters, Elizabeth, Mrs. Robert Beatty of Stratford, and Sarah, Mrs. John Hindman of Tara, and two sons, Dr. John Cordick of Paisley and William who resides on the old homestead on the 9th concession of Arran and with whom she has made her home, since the death of her husband. Four grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.
Deceased was in faith a staunch Presbyterian and was a faithful and valued member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Tara. She was a willing worker in the Ladies' Aid as long as health permitted and will be greatly missed by her church and community.
