Shirley Marie Tessmer
Shirley Marie Tessmer, 79, of Menominee, Mich., passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Rennes Health Center-East. She was born on April 4, 1932, to the late Joseph and Theresa (Spitzer) Gignac in Menominee, Mich.

Shirley graduated from Menominee High School. She worked at the Menominee County Lloyd Hospital and the Luther Home, retiring in 1992. She married James Tessmer in Menominee, Mich. on April 15, 1950. Shirley was a member of Resurrection Parish in Menominee, Mich., the Slovenian (Sloga) Lodge, and the Women's Club at Resurrection Parish, she also enjoyed dancing, working in her flower garden, traveling and spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband of almost 62 years, James; one daughter, Debra (Donald) Beaudo of Menominee, Mich.; two sons: Mike (Vicky) Tessmer of Milwaukee, Wis. and Doug (Fern) Tessmer of Sobieski, Wis. She is further survived by six grandchildren: Scott (Catherine) Beaudo, Kurt (Amy) Beaudo, Justin Tessmer, Marina (Nick) Brouillard, Tanya Tessmer and Kenneth Tessmer; ten great-grandchildren: Nick, Jr; Tae, Mason, Eli, Ennah, Sarah, Connor, Laighla, Noah and Josiah; two sisters: Luella Petrin of Carbondale, Mich. and Carol Peterson of Menominee, Mich. and two brothers: Bob (Nancy) Gignac of Menominee, Mich. and Gene (Karen) Gignac of Stevens Point, Wis; many nieces and nephews and her very special friend, Lucille Lesperance. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Fritz Gignac.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Shirley on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Resurrection Parish at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the mass at 11 a.m. Fr. Robb Jurkovich will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee, Mich.

The Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Shirley's family is requesting that any expressions of kindness be directed towards a memorial fund that has been established in her name.

Shirley's family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Heartland Hospice and the staff at Rennes-East for all of the wonderful care that she received.
