Alexander Greenwood Lived
in Listowel and District
All His Life

FUNERAL WEDNESDAY

An old and respected resident of
Listowel passed away early Sunday
morning, December 11, at his resi-
dence on York street, in the person
of Mr. Alexander Greenwood, in his
seventy-seventh year. Although in
ailing health for several years, he
was able to be about his home most
of the time. He took a severe heart
attack during the night and passed
away about five o'clock.
Deceased was born in Maryboro'
township, November 11, 1856, his
parents being William and Isabella
Greenwood, pioneers settlers in Mary-
boro'. On June 17, 1885, he was mar-
ried to Emily Cunningham, who sur-
vives him. After their marriage they
came to Wallace township, farming
for twenty years, and then retired to
Listowel, where they have since re-
sided.
Mr. Greenwood was an ardent lov-
er of horses, and was well known
throughout the township of Wallace.
He was an arherent of the Presbyter-
ian church, and the funeral on Wed-
nesday, December 14, was in charge
of Rev. A. Gordon MacPherson. In-
terment was made in Fairview ceme-
tery, and the pallbearers were Messrs.
Henry Nuhn, Jacob Filsinger, C.
Hacking, Henry Ott, Alex Welsh and
H. Ellis.
Those attending the funeral from
a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Nel-
son Cunningham, Mr. and Mrs. Nel-
son Snider of Kitchener; Mr. and
Mrs. Manuel Shantz of Bridgeport;
Mr. James Filleland of Arkona; Mr.
and Mrs. R. Ballard, Mrs. Farr, Mrs.
Wynn, Mrs. Bulmer of Elmire; Mrs.
Fenton of Hawkesville; Mrs. Ruler
of Fergus; Mr. Chas. Terry and Bert
of Toronto; Mrs. John Munn of Har-
riston; Roy and Orton Greenwood,
Mrs. Charters, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Mutter of Cotswold' Mrs. Alder of
Palmerstown; Mrs. R. Greenwood of
Moorefield and Mr. and Mrs. Thos.
Haydon of Howick.
