CHARLESTON, IL '96 James Randall Ferguson, age 66 of Charleston and a proud military veteran, passed away on Veteran's Day, Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, November 14, 2014 from 6:00 '96 8:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. A Memorial Service, celebrating his life, will be held at a later date. It is requested that thoughtful donations in his honor be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920.

James Randall was born on September 27, 1948 in Charleston, a son of the late Robert and Frances (Jenkins) Ferguson. He married Brenda Dukeman on June 25, 1971 in Mattoon, Illinois. He is survived by Brenda, his wife of 43 years; three children, Kevin Ferguson of Charleston, Robert Ferguson of Slidell, Louisiana and Georgeanna Callow and husband Shannon of Mattoon; 8 grandchildren, Derek Ferguson, Brian Hardy, Ashley Hardy, Christopher Ferguson, Robin Ferguson, Ryan Ferguson, Miles Callow and Jakeb Callow; 3 great-grandchildren, Jayd Ferguson, Abigayl Ferguson and Morgan Lawhorn; a brother, Robert Rex Ferguson and wife Jan of Essex, Massachusetts; and a niece, Donna McDevitt and husband Denny of Charleston. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

James Randall was a 1966 graduate of Charleston High School and enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving and defending his country as a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Greenup Post 4598 and was forever a patriotic man who loved his country. He was extremely honored the year he was given the opportunity to march in the Veteran's Day Parade held in Washington D.C. James Randall was employed by the Lumpkin family before accepting a position with R.R. Donnelley & Sons in Mattoon, where he was employed for several years.

James Randall was a true NASCAR fan who loved the Charlotte Motor Speedway and cheering for his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. He enjoyed watching other sports as well, and was a Yankees and Cardinals baseball fan and a Colts football fan.

James Randall was a loyal and devoted life-long friend to many and was always expanding his circle of friends - new acquaintances were soon considered new friends. While his family and others who loved him will miss his daily presence in their lives, they will always cling to the many fond memories that have now become treasures.
