I
ndustrialist Escapes
Injury in Brooks
Field Plane Mishap
Kenneth S. Kennedy, president
of Kennedy Automatic Products,
Inc., escaped injury about 8 o'clock
Saturday evening in a plane acci-
dent at Brooks Field.
Kennedy was attempting to land
this twin-engine Apache at the un-
lighted field and reportedly under-
shot the field before attempting the
landing and his vision was obsur-
ed by a heavy rain squall just as
he was trying to set the plane
down.
The plane touched down in a
field east of the airport and ap-
parently a wing tip hit a hill caus-
ing the plane to nose over damage-
ing the nose, propellers, wings and
landing gear of the four-seat plane.
Kennedy was reportedly return-
ing from a Texas trip at the time
of the accident.
Airport lights at the field are
not in operation due to construction
work being done in preparation for
a paved runway.
