Alvin Otto Adermann
Alvin Otto Adermann, 89 of Altamont, died on Monday, December 9, 2013 at 2:18 a.m. at his rural farm home in Fayette County, near Altamont.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 11 a.m., in the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Altamont with the Rev. Dr. James F. Wright officiating.
Visitation for family and friends was conducted from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening December 10 at the Kull Funeral Chapel, Altamont.
A second visitation was held at Immanuel Lutheran Church from 10 until 11 am at the time of the funeral service at the church.
Burial rites was conducted at the church cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
Alvin "Al" Adermann was born March 6, 1924, in the Bethlehem Community Effingham County, Illinois.
He was born into the Christian family of Otto and Sophia (Rath) Adermann, one of two siblings. Al was baptized and confirmed his faith in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
He married G. Joan Harvey, his wife of 62 years on April 29, 1951, in Immanuel Lutheran Church. Together, Al and Joan were blessed with nine children.
Al was a farmer and moved to Springfield, Illinois in 1960. He was employed in heavy machinery production for the Allis-Chalmers Company which later merged and became Fiat-Allis until his retirement in 1986. He then moved back to the Altamont area and again took up his passion for farming.
He was member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, and while in Springfield was a member of Concordia and Trinity Lutheran churches. He was a proud member of the United Auto Workers Union.

He is survived by his wife, Grace Joan (Harvey) Adermann of Altamont; four sons, Ricke (wife, Sharon) Adermann of Marion, IA; Steven (wife, Diana) Adermann of Bothell, WA; Thomas (wife, Tammie) Adermann of Sedalia, MO; James (wife, April) Adermann of Taylorville, IL; three daughters, Connie (husband, Anthony) Kamnick of Altamont, IL; Theresa (husband, Rett) Smart of Carmichael, CA; Jennifer Greenfield of Olney, IL; one son-in-law, Brad Reese of Auburn, IL; 26 grandchildren and 17-great-grandchildren .
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son , David Adermann, and one daughter, Lisa Reese, one sister, Julia and her husband, Elmer Jagow; one grandson, Brice Reese in his infancy
